   The department has 34 employees, including 13 professors (DSc), 8 – associate professors (PhD), 13 assistants (3 PhD). Professor Rakhimbaeva Gulnora Sattarovna has been the head of the Department of Nervous Diseases since 2008.

The department is the base for the preparation of undergraduate students of the 3rd, 4th and 5th courses of the division of Medisine, medical – pedagogical, medical – preventive faculties, the 4th year students of the biomedical faculty and the 1st and 2nd year of the faculty of higher nursing on the subjects of neurology, medical genetics and medical psychology, masters degree education in the areas of neurology, medical psychology and medical genetics; clinical residency in neurology and medical psychology.

The clinical bases of the department are the educational and medical complex of the Tashkent Medical Academy, the 1^st City Clinical Hospital, medical centers “MedTashMI”, “ShohMed”, “Asab va rukhiyat.” The department has more than 100 years of history. The Department of Nervous Diseases was established in 1920 at the Medical Faculty of Turkestan State University.

Professor Rakhimbayeva Gulnora Sattarovna has been the head of the Department of Nervous Diseases since 2008, and is also the head of a grant project to clinical research, modern diagnostic approaches, and the pathogenetic mechanisms of catamenial epilepsy.

Prof. G.S. Rakhimbaeva and the scientific school she created are developing the main priority areas of modern neurology on the problems of metabolic encephalopathy, dementia, vascular and inflammatory diseases of the brain and its membranes, epilepsy.

The results of the above scientific studies have been repeatedly reported at international congresses, symposia, conferences: France, USA, England, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece, Turkey, Germany, Italy, etc. Under her guidance 5 doctoral and 17 PhD theses were defended. Over 460 scientific articles, 2 textbooks, 4 patents have been published. G.S. Rakhimbayeva is the deputy chairman of the Association of Neurologists of Uzbekistan, a member of the European Academy of Neurology- (EAN) vice president of the national branch of the international league for the fight against epilepsy (ILAE-CEA), IAPRD (International Association for Parkinsonism and Related Disorders), WFN (World Federation of Neurology).
